20 Year Tree City USA

Arbor Day is a holiday that recognizes the importance of trees and encourages people to plant and protect them. The official date for the state of Ohio falls on the last Friday of April, but it varies for different regions depending on the climate and suitable planting season. In 2024 the City of Hamilton was recognized during its Arbor Day celebration for 20 years of being a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation Program. A swamp white oak was donated by the ODNR Division of Forestry and the State of Ohio for the celebration and was planted at Monument Park.

Arbor Day Projects

Hamilton’s Urban Forestry Division completes projects for our Arbor Day Program. Some of our past projects include a monthly marketing campaign on urban forestry and a monthly calendar featuring trees.
