Public Utilities Week.
The City of Hamilton, Department of Infrastructure is celebrating Public Utilities Week, October 6-12, 2024.
Public Power Week
Public Power Week is an annual observance coordinated by the American Public Power Association (APPA). APPA is the voice of non-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power 2,000 towns and cities nationwide. The Association represents public power before the federal government to protect the interests of more than 49 million people that public power utilities serve, and the 93,000 people they employ. It advocates and advises on electricity policy, technology, trends, training, and operations. Its members strengthen their communities by providing superior service, engaging citizens, and instilling pride in community-owned power. More at www.publicpower.org.
Public Natural Gas Week is a nationwide observance coordinated by the American Public Gas Association (APGA). APGA dedicates the week to honor the work and importance of having locally-owned public natural gas systems. There are approximately 1,000 public natural gas utilities in the United States. Most are small, but despite their size, they have a huge impact on the communities they serve. They provide an irreplaceable function of offering low-carbon, affordable and efficient natural gas. The AGPA has over 730 members in 38 states, and represents the interests of public gas before Congress, federal agencies and other energy-related stakeholders by developing regulatory and legislative policies. In addition, APGA organizes meetings, seminars, and workshops with a specific goal to improve the safety, reliability, operational efficiency, and regulatory environment in which public gas systems operate.
