Common Misconceptions.
Everybody makes mistakes, but here are a few that you can avoid making helping us keep the Hamilton’s DORA open and in the good graces of our local and state law enforcement agents.
You Can.
Support local businesses by purchasing a drink at a participating Hamilton DORA location and explore the district during the designated hours.
Take a purchased drink into non-liquor serving establishments that have the green “DORA Beverage Welcome” sticker on the front of their business.
Drink responsibly. Rules pertaining to public intoxication, indecency, noise, and driving while intoxicated still apply.
Bring hula hoops to Marcum Park and have a hula hoop off with your friends while holding a beverage you purchased from a Hamilton DORA serving establishment.
When you see a sign that says the DORA district boundaries have ended, you can finish your drink and throw the cup away.
Have a great time!
You Cannot.
Refill your DORA cup. Cups are single use only.
Roll your own cooler of drinks into the district. All beverages must be purchased from a liquor serving establishment.
Walk around with a purchased drink that is not in a designated Hamilton DORA cup. No cans, no glass bottles, no red solo cups, no coffee to-go mugs you filled at home, are permitted.
Take a beverage from one liquor serving establishment into another. Liquor permits cannot cross, when you do this you risk the establishment losing their liquor license. Don’t be that guy, drink your beverage within the district.
Throw your trash on the ground. Fun fact, there are more than 164 trash cans in the Hamilton DORA, find one.
Loiter on private property. Like, why?
Pretend this is Bourbon Street. This is Hamilton, and we are attempting to be civilized. Don’t ruin it for everyone.
